New Discourses Bullets, Ep. 52
Every Woke term conceals an agenda. That’s a crucially important fact to understand. Yes, you may be familiar with the actual words in use, words like “diversity” or “resilience,” but the Woke are misusing them and tucking an agenda in them, every time. You have to ask. Every time. In this episode of New Discourses Bullets, host James Lindsay covers this simple fact and gives you some strategies for what to do about it. Join him so you can counter this form of Woke word magic.

A friend of mine got into a cult. I didn’t realize it was a cult at the time and checked it out. There were a few red flags: They had a different way of speaking… certain phrases that they commonly used that others didn’t. Also, the lack of importance they put on family ties. Also, I couldn’t get a straight answer to clarify some important declarations they were making concerning the death of the founder. This led me to cut contact with the organization.
Decades later, I read an article online by someone raised in the cult who got out. It confirmed my suspicion that it was a cult, and I finally got a straight answer about how the founder died: He killed himself.
The past tense form of verbs can be used as adjectives, just so we know.
This is the case with “unhoused.” However, its use in this case does obfuscate the actual condition of the person in question. We call them “homeless” which is also a bit misplaced. In the UK they are sometimes called “rough sleepers.” This is more properly descriptive. In the UK, a “homeless” person can be squatting or can be living in an apartment that is just too expensive to be viable for them.
I see no inclination in the Bay Area (a very “woke” area of the country) to take over the housing construction business. Here the homeless issue seems to be used to accuse government officials and businesses as being hard-hearted, crass, or profit-motivated. The woke tend to specialize in finding fault, not solutions.
What I see in the Bay Area is a population that is amost totally confused about how life really works by woke ideologies that they are being told are correct and progressive ideologies. I see people choosing their “gender” based on whim or some sense of personal comfort, and choosing to not work simply because it is an easier way to live and gives them more time to play games. I see woke ideology turning “average” people into criminals , and thus normalizing criminal behavior as simply a matter of choice, destiny, or victimhood. This is ridiculous and unsustainable.
In other words, I see no desire to seize the means of production, but definitely to destroy production entirely.
For me, the problem of revealing hidden agendas among the Woke is less important than the revealing of the total ridiculousness and unworkability of Woke ideology.
In the case of the Bay Area and other big Blue cities, it’s not so much a taking over of the construction industry, but they have what has been referred to as “The Homeless Industrial Complex.” Thousands of people working for government agencies and NGOs that “serve the homeless.” They have no vested interest in getting the homeless into permanent housing and getting them jobs: More homeless = more money and power for them. But the cities have tight zoning laws, so to an extent, they do control the construction industry: Who can build what and where they can build it. Also, horrid public schools that produce illiterate drop outs feed new victims into the Homeless Industrial Complex.
Jeremy,
My experience with Statists, regardless of whether they lean to the left (Socialist, Communist) or to the right (Fascist, Theocrat) is that they vehemently refuse to acknowledge the reality that the primary unit in society is the individual. They deny that people exist as physically and intellectually independent and volitional persons. Their arguments invariably refer to a collective and regard people as undifferentiated cells in a collective, with their every action and thought determined by an “organic” connection to that collective, exactly as Marx did with his collectivistic “bourgeoisie” and “proletariat” categories. Their denial of individual autonomy and volition is a fundamental expression of their desire to rule and enslave all, for according to their sociopathic or psychopathic “thinking”, a collective monolith is much easier to control and dispose of as they wish than are disparate, volitional individuals.
I cannot emphasize this enough. The most significant aspect of every leftist argument is to frame everything in terms of collectives. The term homeless by its very nature avoids drawing a conclusion as to why any specific person is homeless and therfore every case is individualized. One person might be homeless for systemic reasons, another because of their own doing. The conversation must be had on a case by case basis. On the other hand, unhoused draws the conclusion for you and by extension forms a collective victim group. In any conversation you have about these issues your primary aim is to reframe the conversation in individual (i.e. liberal) terms and to demand a consideration of particulars.
In the end this is a futile program which rots the soul of not only the unsuspecting person or the people and society caught off guard but the activists themselves who fall into the role of woke participants. A meager reward only is gleaned for them and a shallow life that yields no joy or true reward from living from a place of genuine integrity . Fake shit like they push is still shit. A menu of a deceptive information in the head of anyone so gullible to fall into these beliefs is like a slow death. In the end they toot only their own horn and stand on a grand stand hoping to be recognized and held up in high regard. As they deny that the individual is the key unit of society their fate is to fall headlong into a mental abyss or walk from this nonsense. Ha Ha asshole you just stink up your territory.
