The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 91
The churches are under attack, not just from without but also from within. Marxist subversion has been brought deeply into them, and they are already falling. The model for how this is being accomplished mirrors the model used to steal education, so it’s little surprise that the Brazilian Marxist educator Paulo Freire is at the bottom of it. In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay picks up out of the Critical Education Series in which he has been reading most of Freire’s landmark 1985 book, The Politics of Education: Culture, Power, and Liberation. Here, he presents the last two thirds of the tenth chapter of that book, which is dedicated not to education at all but to seeing churches as educational platforms that can be utilized in the same way as schools to raise Marxist consciousness. The model is simple: capture the colleges of education and seminaries and you get the teachers and the pastors, and once you have them you get the students and the laity. Join James to understand the goal of transforming the Christian churches in theory, practice, and agenda in this gripping podcast that exposes the roots and implementation of a devastating Marxist rot in mainline Christianity and thus the chief heresy of the twenty-first century.

As a refugee from a Mainline Protestant church, he is absolutely right about the “rot”–and while I don’t feel it is purely Marxist it is sufficiently immersed in social justice to be de facto Marxian in its orientation, even if “Marx” and “socialism” never get uttered. (Not uttering them helps inculcate the useful idiots.)
One critical oversight: most people do in fact see through this transformation of the church. And while they cannot easily pull their children out of public schools (if they lack the money for alternatives), finding a new church is easy if your old one stinks to high hell. And so they have. Virtually all Mainline churches are shrinking, some precipitously, and they have been for decades. I’d bet that a day doesn’t go by before a new one closes. They recognize that woke Christianity makes people comfortable in their sin, but more importantly, it prompts a very superficial lesson–God is love and we should love everyone and everything–that doesn’t require weekly attendance. So they stop going. And the church dies. As it should.
Institutional capture is undoubtedly depressing and demoralizing–precisely what it is intended to do (as Bezmenov noted). But it would be far worse if these institutions were still thriving. People aren’t trapped into churches the way they often are into schools or school districts. And the surge in homeschooling should offer evidence that they’re wise in that department as well–not as much as they need to be, but a healthy portion of the population knows what is being peddled is nonsense. (If not a majority, may we hope it soon will be…with the help of New Discourses among others)
Only one way to respond to you post (in an agreeable way) is to call what you are talking about what it is, pragmatism. The Church, which includes the churches, is pragmatic, which means that they are way to concerned, primarily, with being relevant and popular with their surrounding communities than they are contending for the faith and risking offense for the sake of the gospel truth. The Marxists know this and are starting to exploit it. The aim of the Marxists, which is not ultimately stated probably because it to aweful to even consider, is to get as many Christians and churches as possible to denounce God before men, or publicly commit apostasy. Christians must resist and contend now, we have no choice, not that we had achoice in the first place, and this from the beginning.

Sounds very close to the Gnostic-adjacent Magick-Luciferian Me-Myself-and-I “philosophy” of Aleister Crowley’s Thelema “religion” (which is going stronger than ever in 2023). “Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole of the Law” was Crowley’s prime directive, along with “Love is the Law, Love Under Will.” Also “Every Man and Every Woman Is a Star” — presumably celestial-angelesque and not Hollywood-skankbag icky although 1960s Tinseltown warlock/filmmaker and Crowley-devotee Kenneth Anger proudly tattooed the word “LUCIFER” in huge letters across his chest in 1972 to freak out the suburban bourgeoisie.
Read through the Thelema web site and you’ll simultaneously laugh at its infantile absurdity and cry for the gullible degradation of human vanity, ego and selfishness. THIS is the connection with Gnosticism: The millennia-old embodiment of MEGALO- and EGO-MANIA! It never had and never will have anything to do with being an actual human being living in boring ordinary Earthly reality. The entire thelema101.com site is a blueprint for the conceited “spirituality” that informs TransQueer and Woke, especially current Woke “Christianity”, the new polymorphous perverse paganism.
Related to Crowley’s twisted crippling of the idea of “Love” is the similar work of the infamous, now deceased, Anton Szandor LaVey’s “The Nine Satanic Statements” from his 1969 “Satanic Bible”. I find LaVay’s number 5 very “today”, very Woke blue-haired Gen Z Bratmonster: “5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!” (from Churchofsatan.com or BaphomentX.com).

Is your book, Everyone is Wrong About God, an Orwellian satire? I did a first listen to it and Cynical Theories. Anyways, just wanted to hone in things. Enjoy your work…brother.
