The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 129
Degrowth is a death cult. Degrowth means starving while you freeze to death in the dark. That said, Degrowth Communism is something more. Specifically, it’s something that should be called “Degrowth Distributism,” and it’s the overarching plan of the United Nations, World Economic Forum, World Health Organization, and the rest operating under the brand name of the “well-being economy.” In this long and detailed episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay takes apart the Marxist manipulations of the key words, “scarcity,” “wealth,” and “abundance,” necessary to lure the world into this devious trap. By tracing the seventh chapter of Kohei Saito’s recent book Marx in the Anthropocene: Towards the Idea of Degrowth Communism, he’s able to unlock the mystery of the what, why, and how for the destination point of this global Communist revolution and explain its fascistic corporate subsidiary structure in unprecedented clarity. Join him to see the big picture.

Again, please provide the objective (i.e., factually based) evidence of metaphysical limits to growth, i.e., limits determined by NATURE in every constituent of the planet in which human beings interact.
OIL OOZES FROM THE DEGRATION OF WHAT NATURAL RESOURCE?….”NATURAL” BEING THE KEY DRIVER.
Another excellent episode. At first I was thinking that I wouldn’t want to hear the original texts, (and that the episode would be too long), but found it really interesting and entertaining. There were many LOL moments. Thanks for doing this! Ever since reading Cynical Theories I’ve been wondering about whether the spread of wokeness is just the story of bad postmodern thinking released into the wild, or if is a continuation/morphing of the marxist tradition. I’m still not sure but you are making me think!
Along with Degrowth Communism, another Marxian strategy to destroy Western individualist freethinking autonomous citizens is Communitarian Neofeudalism:
“The experts who are summoned to give their opinion and inform the action of governments… invited to offer training on racism or sexism to civil servants… appointed to study a problem and [make] recommendations must remain as objective as possible. Their credibility is at stake, as is that of the institutions in whose service they work. If experts, trainers, commissioners are chosen according to their political or community allegiances, the conclusions reached… are written in advance, the training… turns into indoctrination, the judgments… will be systematically tainted by partisanship, and the impartiality of institutions becomes a sinister farce, leading to delegitimization and loss of public confidence in them.
“[Governments] appoint (unelected) representatives of ethnic, religious, [and] sexual ‘communities’ (which only have a real existence in the discourse of their self-proclaimed representativeness) in the hope that the members of said ‘communities’ give their votes in return to the political leaders who have pampered their supposed representatives. One of the driving forces of so-called… multiculturalism is a communitarian neofeudalism so pervasive that it goes so far as to dictate the choice of candidates for elections and, even, in part… foreign policy.
Satisfying these different lobbies is also a way for our governments to buy peace. They think, by integrating some of their leaders into the government apparatus or by distributing generous subsidies to them, they can defuse their most virulent critics at a lower cost. The small-time Machiavellianism of some people thus responds to the ambitions of others; but it is a game where there is a big loser: the ordinary citizens, who do not recognize themselves in any ‘community’ and haven’t given any lobby a mandate to represent them.
The crux of the problem is there. We recruit political activists to make them civil servants who are supposed to be objective and impartial and we are then surprised that they have remained above all… activists.”

“Old Charlie stole the handle and the train it will not stop going. No way to slow down.” ~ Ian Anderson.
The world is like a freight train loaded with garbage and souls that keeps getting bigger, heavier, and faster with the tracks falling apart and up ahead the bridge is out. “All aboard!”, shouts the UN conductor (Old Charlie, the Devil).

Now we pay
Can’t turn back
There ain’t no brakeman on this train”

“De-growth” simply means preparing sensibly for the inevitable – the fact that our global economy is reaching its limits-to-growth. If we accept this, we can make it less traumatic than a full scale collapse. Already the trauma is spreading in the form of spreading polarization, conflict, and war.
As ecosystem collapse accelerates and key resources, such as oil, become less affordable, the global economy will move further toward stagnation, then contraction, likely within a few decades. Crises and disasters will become so routine that “triage” will become the name of the game, and maybe much worse.

The fundamental limits to growth are, not metaphysical. They derive from the fundamental driver of growth, which is “cheap energy”. For the last couple of hundred years that has meant fossil fuels, especially the #1 driver “oil”. World oil production is either already past its peak or stagnating. Something like cheap nuclear fusion will be required to continue global economic growth through the 21st century and beyond.
