The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 128

Woke Marxism has no limiting principles. It is, in fact, openly hostile to any such boundary on its own madness. As a result, it possesses no mechanisms to prevent the implementation of the worst possible ideas, as we often see, including in the education of young children. We have already seen this with drag queens, sex, sexuality, pleasure-based sex education, divisive Critical Race Theory in education, “gender affirming care” and transition, and who knows how much else. Now we confront “sanism” as a prejudice keeping the insane out of the classrooms of little kids. Sanism, according to the Woke, is an unjust privileging of sanity over insanity, and a handful of Canadian education researchers at Guelph University in Ontario have published the case for bringing madness and mad people into early childhood education and care. In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay reads through this terrible idea and laments that it wasn’t one of his own “Grievance Studies” hoax papers from a few years back. Join him to push the limits of belief and to understand why we must stop Woke Marxism from taking a single further step forward in our societies.

The social model may be completely mad but it arguably served a purpose by shifting the conversation. After all, the synthesis of the individual model and the social model is ‘reasonable accommodation’, which we see codified in many systems of law now such as the UK’s Equality Act. The many wheelchair ramps in public buildings, for example, weren’t there two or three decades ago, same with the textured paving tiles at road crossings.

Accommodating people with real physical disabilities (wheelchairs, blind, etc.) was enacted because it was reasonable. Every citizen agreed to such accommodations because everyone in the society potentially could and will upon aging become physically disabled so such laws benefit everyone. The problem is that these laws and “models” are now abused by transgendered and other invented categories claiming their “right” to the same type of accommodations granted in law as rights to genuinely physically disabled people.

Most people supported such original accommodations as parking for handicapped and braille on signs but did not have any say when the very concept of accommodations was Transjacked by Autogynephiles, Trans/Queer Inc., along with endless invented preposterous Identarian “special needs” grifters. Is a handicapped parking space the same conceptual category of Rights as the “right” of a sexually aroused man in a wig to shower with females against their will in women’s locker rooms because it’s an “accommodation” to his autogynephilia?

These fakers and con artists stole the original physical disability accommodation concept and its universal public support and wore them as a skin suit to con and bully the public to get their spoiled narcissistic infantile way. Equality Acts have become Identarian Orwellian bully laws for Leftist supported divisive constituencies.

It is sad to note that the term Sanism has been taken over by the Woke. Over 10 years ago or more NYU law Professor, Michael Perlin, used the term in the bona fide legal analysis (as it use to be of yore) of the nature of mental health discrimination. I saw him as following in the steps of Gordan Allport and Morton Birnbaum.

Of course this “Sanism” paper is from Canada, a Marxist Bedlam. Just look at our “leader”, Caligula ‘Mao-Mao’ Trudeau.

See below for info on “Mad Pride Toronto”. I’ve lived in Toronto my entire life (almost 7 decades!) and when my geriatric ill mother and my extremely old cat both finally die, I will be looking to escape from the hellhole of Canada. Preferably to Florida, but Canadians who are not non-white “refugees” can only live permanently in the U.S. if they get a full-time job or are rich ($2 million assets above living expenses minimum). I’m retired and not rich, but I am modestly self-supporting as well as neat, healthy and quiet so if any American is willing to adopt me, Sand Key on the Gulf would be ideal (but even a gator trailer in Homestead is better than Gulag Canada).

“Mad Pride Week Toronto: Similar to…LGBTQ… reclaiming the word ‘queer’, Mad Pride activists seek to reclaim language… such as ‘mad’, ‘nutter’, ‘crazy’, ‘lunatic’, ‘maniac’, and ‘psycho’… The first Toronto Pride event for mad people was… in… 1993… The name changed to Mad Pride in 2002 and events are now held in the summer to correspond with Bastille Day (during the French Revolution, citizens stormed the Bastille to liberate prisoners and mad people) [What?!?] and International Mad Pride Day on July 14. Mad Pride is celebrated annually in a number of cities and countries.” torontomadpride.com

“Madness Canada… believes that Mad Studies should pay particular attention to the mechanisms of power and social justice issues…” madnesscanada.com

When people in Nazi Germany saw the handwriting on the wall–as you do in The Peoples Rpublic of Canada (another PRC!)–they left every dear one behind, for they rightly valued their own freedom survival more, and smuggled out whatever valuables they could hide on their persons to use as currency in their new home country. I have met people during my 60+ years who had escaped Hitler, Castro, Stalin, Pol Pot, Tito, and Ceaucescu. Every single one of them had made that emotionally hard, life-saving decision. They all told me that those who had chosen to stay put to be with their loved ones more often than not ended up being rounded up and slaughtered along with them. Get out of Canada, right away, any way you can!

Thanks for the kind words – I’m plotting as we speak. I sold my modest downtown condo 5 years ago (for 3 times what I paid for it 20 years earlier) to free up (and hoard) my money to be able to move at a moment’s notice when the SHTF.

Every day I put my folding bicycle into my Fiat hatchback and drive from my rent-controlled apartment in an upscale midtown nabe (where my grandparents lived when I was a child) to a man-made wildlife preserve at the waterfront (Lake Ontario) where I ride my bike (as I have since it was built from landfill in the 1980s). On the drive I see (and smell) up close the San Francisco-style putrescent degradation and Leftist-organized third world collapse of Toronto’s downtown streets. One park was self-declared “aboriginal land” so native Indians now live there in teepees with giant “council” fires and a tree-bark “smudge lodge” surrounded by homeless “refugee” addict/criminals in dirty tents/shacks (each with adjacent bbqs and couches), all in the centre of a huge modern city.

Our newly elected (landslide) openly communist “racialized” mayor and her majority far-Left citizen-devotees champion and adore this park; the CBC (Canada’s Pravda) calls it “so cosmopolitan”, “an anti-Trump triumph”. To avoid gridlock, I drive zigzag through residential urban neighbourhoods of old houses that are plastered by their far Left government worker fanatical zealot residents with every Woke flag, sign and poster imaginable (“Outlaw Whiteness!”) on every square inch of their million dollar champagne-commie flophouses.

All four of my grandparents emigrated (separately) when young with their families from Scotland to Toronto after WW1 and my paternal grandparents are buried at a huge posh cemetery across the street from my building. If I had the money, I would have what’s left of their remains (they died in the ‘70s) exhumed and returned to Scotland to get them out of this God-forsaken dystopian wasteland called Canada.

Anecdote typifying Toronto: My sister’s boyfriend (they’re both in their 60s) is Jewish and when I told him I just saw a 4-foot-high red graffiti slogan sprayed on a prominent downtown overpass that read [grocery chain mogul so-and-so] “is a thieving hook-nosed Zionist Jew”, he said “have you seen the new pictures of my dog?” His response IS Canada.

Oh my…That is so funny…”Caligula, Mao, Mao Trudeau”…Funniest name I have heard for him yet. I have not heard of “Mad Pride”…yikes…I hope I don’t see it here. (“Taxifornia”, “Mexifornia”, “Commiefornia”, take your pick). But, it’s a bit ‘mad’ here anyway.
HUGE, ugly “affordable housing” apt. complexes are being built near where I live, paving over where the cows used to pasture. Very sad for me. I call them, “The Gulags”.
We should become pen pals, we seem to think similar about some of these things.
I’ve been wanting to “be adopted” too, but for different reasons…
May your mother, and cat have good final days, and peaceful deaths. 🙏
Hope you find your special place. The gulf will definitely be a lot warmer than Toronto, but watch out for those hurricanes.
It’s a bit crazy in the U.S. too, depending on where one is, and eventhough I live in a very “progressive” area, there are still many sane people around who are not swallowing the garbage. They are often the ones working, being busy with life, so in other words, ‘normal’, and unnoticeable.
      Take Care…

Thank you so much for the kind words. (New Discourses is one of my few sanity sanctuaries left.) Believe it or not, most Canadians actually pride themselves on openly and loudly hating Americans, which I always found bizarre and repellent because I always loved the U.S. (and hated most Canadians).

I was in Miami just after Andrew and saw my friends’ beloved avocado and orange trees ripped out of the ground along with seeing Homestead flattened. I was also near Orlando after another hurricane which overflowed a nearby lake and everyone had to walk around with sticks because large poisonous snakes that lived in the lake (probably Disney employees) were now swimming around everyone’s flooded driveways. Ah, Florida memories.

Unfortunately, my Florida and USA escape fantasies will probably remain nothing more than a trapped old man shaking a fist at his lot. I regret not grabbing two separate opportunities at two different life moments to move there. But I will survive (as someone once said of me in the late ‘80s after everyone we knew but me had contracted and died of AIDS, You are the ultimate survivor). I will continue to survive because I practice what Victor David Hanson calls living in a “Monastery of the Mind”. It’s also been called “Inner Emigration”: where you can (mentally) check out any time you like but you can never (physically) leave. People living under communist Totalitarianism utilized this survival technique (full catastrophe living) throughout the 20th century as I am now forced to do in the 21st.

I’m also a sheep in wolves’ clothing having lived and worked amongst the Commies my entire adult life – plus I’ve been, since the ‘70s, a very urban eccentric artist who partook of many sub-cultures and “lifestyles” along the way (my first tattoos were in 1978), so I blend in well with the Leftists to the point of merciful invisibility which allows me to lie to their smug faces with an ironic smile.
