The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 127
Leftism, including Marxism, is operational. It is strategic. It knows what it’s doing and how to do it. It might look crazy, but that’s deliberate. In fact, Leftists proudly publish and disseminate activist guides for their agenda like the book Beautiful Trouble that spell out for anyone how to do “transformative” activism through deliberate and strategic troublemaking. In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay ties together three activist principles from Beautiful Trouble with a large number of relevant contemporary examples to make clear how Marxist Leftism works and is working in our current American Cultural Revolution. He starts by laying out that “Your Target’s Reaction Is Your Real Action,” explains how that progresses through “Put Your Target in a Decision Dilemma,” and illustrates how the program is accelerated with “Escalate Strategically.” He also takes pains to point out that all of their activism contains a performative element, like theater, to sway public or political opinion (e.g., see “Do the Media’s Work for Them“), to offer a way not just to understand this activism but to counter it. Join him to learn how Leftists fight and how to fight back, strategically.

We also need strategies for countering modern Woke “Art”! (Flamethrowers? Grenades? Defunding government arts grants?)
Nuit Blanche is an all night urban art event started in Paris in 2002 then adopted in 120 cities around the world. I attended the first few years in my city but stopped in 2008 when the “Art” became too boring and politically correct. Also drunken rowdies began rampaging through the crowds smashing the art, which most PC sheeple attendees thought was a form of “performance art”. Forgot all about it until I happened upon a link to the 2023 incarnation in my uber-Woke city (a communist hellhole). Let the Woke begin:
The “Theme”: Climate Change and Marginalized Communities. (cringe, retch, repeat) The “Curators”: 3 hyper-Woke millennial women (“she/her”). (entitled, embittered, nauseating) The “Art”: radical far-Left Toxic Woke-ulinity of screeching-smug-hectoring propaganda masquerading as contemporary “art”. (vomitous, vomitive, vomitorium) A sampling of the “Art” (for the first three, I picture a shrieking audience from Clockwork Orange strapped down with metal clamps holding open their eyelids):
“12 Hours of Black Literature”
“12 Hours of BIPOC Short Films”
“12 hours of BIPOC Music”
“Today In The News More Black And Brown Bodies Traumatized, The Soil Is Toxic The Air Is Poison: artist based in amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton)… the transition zone where prairie and forest meet… thinking deeply about the concept of disaster, its complexity and its entwining intricacies.”
“Your Life Matters: wearable technology to help protestors safely navigate police interactions… to question the intersections between social justice and capitalism. How does capitalism feed off of, and often devalue, important social movements for profit?”
“In Silence: centering of the unique geo-cultural identities… economically challenged and racialized areas… emoting unspoken hurts… art-making at the ‘end of the world’… despite the urgency of the Anthropocene…”
“Traces of Us: a collective… diverse diasporic identities… intersectional lens… promote gender equality, platform under-represented voices, create accessible and inclusive spaces…”
“BAM! Night Market: inclusive… explore issues surrounding gender, sexuality, immigration, belonging and identity… drives a diverse visual practice…”
“Undocumented Stories, artist Shakespeare in Action [mother of God, make it stop!]: What is our collective responsibility to protect the right to access basic services, health care, education, social support, decent work, and proper work conditions, without discrimination? How do we support and advocate for those living without permanent status…” [ask the enraged migrant-fatigued post-Woke citizens of NYC, Chicago, Paris, etc.]
Sigh – love this guy but ffs.
Can you elaborate?
