Happy New Year, everybody! Welcome to 2021! My take on the new year is that 2021 could be better than 2020 (thank goodness!) but only if we’re willing to recognize the fundamental reasons 2020 was pretty awful. You might think it’s the pandemic and the riots, which would be partly true, but those were what they were for reasons. The riots and everything Critical Social Justice broke out because we allowed 2020 to be the most racist year in decades. I think we should let the end of 2020 mark the end of that. The pandemic would have been bad in many ways no matter, what, but it was made so much worse because it was a year in which we let people tell us what to do. If we want 2021 to be better, we need to focus on freedom and, within reason, doing a lot less of what we’re told to do. That’s my New Year’s resolution, and I hope it will be yours too.

Here is my tedious whinge about OnlySubs (besides the silly PunctCraft). I currently sign up for NOTHING on a subscription basis on the computer (or, as you call it, the internets). I am trying to regulate support to James by paper check (which I know gets digitized anyway (so many parentheses)). I will not share my postal spycraft with a soul. No middleman, no commissions, no forgotten autopays–just pay as I go. JL gets more from me than from an average subscription, and it feels real to me. If he’d rather have everything go through New Discourses, he can dump me.

Now the embarrassing part: I still do feel rejected by Members Only restrictions. 🙁 For a sec.

ND, I apologize for being rude and sassy above. I feel I can sign up with ND and Parler, the way things are going.

Boy, I wish this “members only” stuff wouldn’t have started. It blocks people from being able to view the content, and making content only a few people get to see is a lot of work for nothing. I share a lot of this site’s articles and it’s a bummer if they’re going to be locked away.

Hi Harland, Nothing is changing in that regard. We will continue to post articles, podcasts, CSJ encyclopedia entries, and videos free and public as we always have. The members-only content is an addition to all these things, not a replacement.

Since our site is ad-free, we depend on the members to keep it running. Giving members bonus content allows us to add value to their subscription while also incentivizing others to support us.

Thank you for sharing our materials! Rest assured that you will still be able to continue doing so whether you choose membership or not.
