Breaking Down Critical Social Justice Theory in K-12 Education

Here, James Lindsay sits down with high school teacher Will Reusch to talk about an issue of far more importance than the attention it is currently getting: the deep encroachment of Critical Social Justice Theory and activism into our primary and secondary education programs. As they discuss, it is certainly true that most educators are just caring, engaged individuals who want to do what’s best for all their students, and it is this impulse that Critical Social Justice is manipulating to remake our education system into one of critical pedagogy for equity instead of effective pedagogy for learning.

As effectively all of our colleges of education and pre-service teacher education programs are now based on critical pedagogy—the teaching of critical theory in service of the view that “teaching is a political act”—this is a significant problem. As our education programs prepare our future professionals, leaders, and citizens, this is also an important problem.

Join Lindsay and Reusch for an animated discussion of the hows and whys behind the Critical Social Justice movement’s bid to establish itself in our K-12 education programs and beyond.

I know this was over a year ago but even a year ago. I never felt that anything that was gong on needed to be justified.
There isn’t any justification to anything that was going on then, or, which has escalated since then, and still going on now.
In my opinion and I am very open, reasonable person. When things happen in the world that are bad, we know that, that is just the way thing go sometimes. But ….
When bad things happen like a virus from China that wasn’t revealed for 6 weeks, then a death of a black man happens and an organization that is supposed to be for Social Justice reveals they are Marxist. I think its time for people to sit up and put some common sense into what is going on. I don’t ‘[t care how big the movement. Mayors letting others destroy peoples lives by burning down there businesses is not normal behavior no matter WTH your marching for. People getting killed because the SOJ Movement decided to take over 7 blocks of a city , sorry , its not normal that a mayor lets that happen. Just isn’t. The Constitution states Peaceful Protesting. Not Domestic Terrorist Takeover.
So here we are ! A year later ! Schools don’t have any right to be teaching children any of what has to do with CRT. They are so clever that they took elements from CRT bunched it together so they can say CRT isn’t being taught k-12. So they are in someway calling it CRT, DEI etc so when you mention it to someone in your circle or make an issue out of it, your crazy. How could K-12 understand something that is a curriculum in law school. Very very clever of them how they planned this. I
its almost like telling Arsonist telling you hey I set fire to your basement. When you call the fire dept and tell them your house is burning down , the Arsonist is the baCk going , No I just set fire to the basement is all. Regardless your house it still going to burn down.

Justifying where , how, why , and when you set the basement on fire doesn’t matter. If the fire isn’t put out. Your house is going to be burning down. There are many ways to start a fire. But does it matter if the end result is the same?
I nailed people on this the other day in the comments section of Rolands debate with a black woman who he totally bullied , railroaded , what ever you want to call it. He cut her off right when she was going to explain what and how they were teaching, after he made her define CRT. Total set up.
Of course it was the technical term of CRT which of course that is not the part of CRT they are teaching K-12.
So I finally told everyone that was coming after me. Throw definitions at me all you want, tell me where its being taught or used (which were 3 different answers. Law school. law school and some universities , and just regular colleges.) So no can tell for sure where is taught in universities for sure but they are 100 % its not being taught in K-12. I knew where it was being taught. There is is a website with all the Universities its happening in.
So regardless of this is just another part of a takeover of this country. and people better wake up

One correction: Reusch is wrong when he says that the Texas standards do not include Jim Crow. Even prior to 2018, the Texas standards included a long list of civil rights topics having to do with Jim Crow, from Plessy v Ferguson to desegregation, and a long list of things in between. True, it did not include the phrase “Jim Crow” in the standards, but the content was surely there. Since 2018, the language has included the phrase “Jim Crow” as well.
