OnlySubs: Communism, Terrible Idea, Every Species

  • June 29, 2022
  • James Lindsay

  • June 27, 2022
  • New Discourses
Before the last year or so, two terms you wouldn't have expected to encounter together are "drag queen" and "early childhood education," but we're now about three years into a full-fledged Communist revolution in the Western world, which has made it not only commonplace but shoved all in our faces.

OnlySubs: On the Sovereignty of Logos

  • June 23, 2022
  • James Lindsay
I want to dive pretty deeply into the idea of why there's almost no capacity to communicate across the divide between Marxists (Woke, especially, or otherwise) and virtually everyone else, and it comes down to something far deeper than political disagreement.

OnlySubs: James, What Can I Do?

Invariably at almost every event in almost every city, I get asked, "What can we do?" with all the emphasis either on the "we" or on the "do."

In the previous episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay presented the first third of the first Queer Theory paper to have been written, Gayle Rubin's shocking 1984 essay "Thinking Sex." In this episode, he continues with a second part of Rubin's essay in which it becomes clear that Queer Theory is all about breaking down all boundaries and categories between acceptable and unacceptable sexual behavior using explicitly Marxist-style analysis (Queer Theory is Queer Marxism). Before getting to this section of the essay, however, James also presents a short article from 2016 explaining the fruit Queer Theory is bearing, which makes its Marxist underpinnings completely apparent. Join James to understand more about the origins of Queer Theory.

Postmodernity is a funny place. You should laugh. On the other hand, you shouldn't get mad, bro. Big mad is big losing. So this leads us to some pretty simple advice worth a few minutes consideration: if you're laughing, they're losing.
