The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 155

America, we’re losing our sons. A decade ago, the Woke Left arose rapidly in feminist circles and stole many of our daughters, and now the reaction is here, a “Woke Right” that is drawing our sons to Fascism, hatred, and Nazism. It can no longer be denied, and it must be confronted. What draws our young men, and also our young women, to this Woke Right monstrosity? Seductive lies fed into fear and pain. In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay takes a shockingly candid look at the dark soul and evil manipulation of the rising Woke Right and invites you to join him in putting a stop to it.

Reminds me of the message of one of the most underrated kids movies of the 2000s, “Meet the Robinsons.”

The main character Lewis is an orphan. His roommate at the orphanage is Michael “Goob” Yagoobian. Lewis is a perpetual optimist in spite of not getting adopted until late in his childhood, while Michael is an eternal pessimist who sees himself as a victim.

Throughout the movie, the two boys take completely different paths. Lewis becomes a successful inventor, while the jealous and bitter “Goob” is manipulated by a power-hungry invention of Lewis’s (gone rouge), into becoming a villain.

At one point in the movie, Lewis discovers that the villain is none other than his former childhood orphanage roommate, Goob. Goob reveals his identity and backstory, explaining that he became evil because Lewis’s invention accidentally caused him to miss a crucial baseball catch as a kid, ruining his life and leading him to seek revenge by sabotaging Lewis’s future with the help of Doris, the invention gone rogue. Goob doesn’t realize that Doris is the truly evil one and is only using him. She is using his bitterness against Lewis to manipulate Goob for her own nefarious world domination ends.

Goob explains to Lewis he never let go of his bitterness, allowing it to fester and turn him evil, believing Lewis ruined his life and wanting to ruin Lewis’s in return.

Here’s the part of their conversation that relates so well to the “woke” ideology:

Lewis: Look, I’m sorry your life turned out so bad. But don’t blame me you messed it up yourself. You just focused on the bad stuff when all you had to do was… let go of the past and keep moving forward…

Bowler Hat Guy (Goob as an adult villain): Hmm, let’s see… take responsiblity for my own life or blame you? Dingdingdingdingding! Blame you wins hands down!

That’s what I see with both the left and right versions of woke. They blame shift.

The analogy of Cain and Abel is actually really good. He blamed Abel, whom he was jealous of, and sought to destroy. Blaming Abel for God rejecting his offering was easier for Cain than acknowledging his own sin.

Thank you. As a Christian, you have explained the spirit of Cain better than many pastors, too many of whom live by the spirit of Cain (in their quest for power/prestige), than by Abel.

Please do not be discouraged by the sins of many you have encountered who call themselves Christians. The Lord said you will know the true believers by their fruits.

I pray that one day you will know Jesus Christ as He is, not just as a good and wise man, but as God Himself.

As Charlie Kirk said, if evil/satan, then God.

James, love your work, but you need a new term if you’re going to truly connect with the masses. Work Right is super confusing.

Why not call it neo-fascism, neo-nationalism, Christian nationalism, etc.

There are countless examples of other branding options, these are just examples. There is a reason Eric Kaufman is making fun of you and the term work right. It’s a dumb term.

Would like to hear more about the woke right use of critical theory. (Specific examples are great.) My opinion is very similar to yours, James. If fascism is the final form of western capitalist society (like neomarxism teaches) then it is so only because the left first becomes successful in gutting the Christian values from the society, throwing it into chaos, leaving the reactionary far right (who believe themselves strong enough) to try to rescue it – with human strength alone. Without this spiritual gutting first, however, the reactionary far right wouldn’t even exist, and capitalist society might just go merrily along its way.

So, the truth of the matter (as it seems to me, anyway) is that fascism (or the woke right) is not necessarily the natural end point of capitalist society as the neomarxists believe, it may more accurately be described as a reaction to the destruction brought to it by the far left.

In other words, fascism is one real-world “antithesis” to the Marxist “thesis” within the real-world “dialectics” of revolutionary logic, which Marx neither foresaw nor understood because his own “dialectics” was only designed to work within the rules of the fairyland of socialist imagination rather than the real world we actually do inhabit: which happens to be a fallen world marred by original sin.

Fascism and Marxism are married to one another in certain respects (in the “philosophical” foundations) but fascism turns out to be a black widow wife to Marxism.

James, how did you manage to twist your self-respect into coming up with, and now presenting your meme : The “woke” right? You’re not fooling anyone but yourself. You have a fine analytical mind. But your manly, “All White” American ego shines so bright…
