On December 3, 2024, James Lindsay revealed to the world that he had perpetrated a hoax against the nominally “Christian Nationalist” magazine American Reformer in which he had rewritten a significant portion of the Communist Manifesto to flatter their “Woke Right” ideology. In the ensuing days, the hoax has caused quite a stir on the conservative side of the internet, generating a completely unexpected response in which, in addition to deflecting from the hoax and bashing James, many ostensible conservatives launched into robust defenses of Marxist analysis, critical theory, and postmodernism. How good was the hoax, though, and what did it actually say? I have been following newdiscourses.com for years and I find it a good source of information and analysis about the Critical Social Justice movement. However, with all due respect, it seems to me that this site is turning into a propaganda outlet for Mr. Lindsey’s particular flavor of liberalism. Which would be OK, except that this is supposed to be an apolitical site intended to provide an objective analysis and critique of the SJ movement. Surely one may find some points of similitude between certain conservative/right-wing ideas and the “woke” ideology. And I don’t find it surprising that some committed conservatives would try to defend their ideas even at the cost of contradicting themselves. However if one looks hard enough it is often possible to find (apparent) similitudes between ideologies and movements that are very distant from each other. Does that really justify to conflate them and conclude that they share the same roots and are part of the same phenomenon?
This just further confirms what I have known for a long time: that Conservatives/Republicans and Democrats, i.e., those who occupy both the “left wing” and the “right wing” (both are meaningless terms as Ludwig von Mises correctly pointed out) are two sides of the same Statist coin.
Here’s an interesting tweet from Cernovich from February 8th (right after Tucker’s Putin interview):
“Comparing Putin to Biden or Trump and you realize the United States is coasting on the achievements of better men in time past. We are children spending the inheritance.”
Even though Putin completely botched the invasion. I think Cernovich’s dream is some philosopher king president (he loves Bukele). I was really hoping you would talk about very influential right wing voices starting to praise fascism (like Cernovich and Jack Posobiec) on your Rogan appearance this year. But you didnt even mention it.

Are you okay? The conservative internet isn’t even talking about this. I wouldn’t know it happened if not for your posts. I genuinely don’t understand it.
I’ve seen several conservative leaning channels already come out and bash Lindsay.
Saying he’s woke.
Saying he’s a conspiracy theorist.
Y’know. Using the same tactics of the left.

Name and shame. All the comenters I follow are too busy pointing and laughing at New Lefties still freaking out over Trump and his appointees.
Personally, I’ve never heard of American Reformer so I’d like to see the insanity for myself.
This is why I love James.
He’s not afraid to poke and prod the rot that is neo Marxism and how it infects both sides of the political spectrum.
The fact that now even the right (or woke right though they doth protest) is coming at him the same way that the woke left did; the striking of that nerve, is very telling.
