Psalm 118:24 reads “This is the day the Lord has made; rejoice and be glad in it.” This is one of the most famous psalms in the Bible, and virtually everyone has heard it. I recently had the good fortune to hear someone describe it as a command, though, and I found that profound. As a result, I wanted to share it with you. Join me in this episode of my subscribers-only podcast, James Lindsay OnlySubs, as I tell the story and why I think we should rejoice and be glad in these challenging days we have before us.

Those sentiments have been expressed for ages, going back to exactly when we don’t know for sure.. Because the written word was a recent development. Certainly the people of old Egypt were in touch with such a feeling and then with the Greeks and the great early classical literature expressed the general idea. The wacko woke with their identity politics and grief and blame and complaint at it’s root are well…either lacking in clarity or may just ignorant.
A malcontent, gripper culture emerges when humanity has more wealth for more people than could ever be imagined in any time in history. Rejoice and count your blessings and be well. or bitch and moan and be miserable.
