About this time four years ago, I traveled to Portland, Oregon, not only to inspect the behaviors of canines in urban dog parks but also to meet up with Peter Boghossian, Helen Pluckrose, and Mike Nayna as the day approached to tell the world about the Grievance Studies Affair. After a few observational trips to the dog park, we all headed over to Bret Weinstein’s house to tell him and his wife, Heather Heying, about what we had done a few days in advance of the Grievance Studies Affair going public. Later that evening, Bret, Peter, Mike, and I were discussing what sort of sickness academia had and what the GSA indicated about it. Does it have the flu, from which it will (probably) recover with no intervention? A form of cancer? Terminal? Requiring chemo and radiation? “Or,” as Bret asked, “is it rabies? Because if your dog has rabies, no matter how much you love it, it ain’t your dog anymore.” In this episode of James Lindsay OnlySubs, my subscribers-only podcast, I relate this little story and make the case that Woke Marxism works like ideological rabies, and academia is probably badly infected. If that’s true, it’s not a good sign because there is no good prognosis.
